Hot & Not: Treasury Layouts

These are screen prints from different collection I saw on Etsy. The basic idea behind it is to have a theme and choose items for it, and  some are intentionally not arranged. I think they are all beautiful in their own way, but I will still classify them with HOT or NOT not because I dislike them only to define what's visually appealing.
I love the mix of white and black and the touches of red here and there. It's HOT.
The items are cute and they are all related, but there's some thing not satisfying in the arrangement. Sorry it's NOT.
This mix of an expected strong colors is great, and it gives a boost of energy. It's SO HOT.
This one has a theme connecting the themes, but the colors are not attached. It's NOT.
Same thing with this one, same theme but the items are not tied together visually. it's NOT.
The shades of all the different pinks make it very appealing visually, and the touch of brown/beige is tying them more together. It's HOT.

Hot & Not: Restaurant Menus

These are different menus that I found in my research, and I am presenting them here to compare between their layouts, and arrangement. I will classify them as HOT if I like them or NOT if I dislike them.
What I like about his menu is that they have the main titles in the original language of the restaurant, but there is a lot of elements missing. It looks so plain, for that reason it's NOT.
The blue of the background with that red banner and yellow titles are just not well matched. Yellow on this blue makes it look horrifying. It's a NOT.
I like the divisions in this menu. It is clear where each category belongs. It's easy on the eyes too, so it's HOT.
The color and the printing is just not going. Color wise it's a good combination, but not in that format. It has division, but in a very formal way. It's a NOT.
The pictures are good and tempting, but it just looks like a lot of writing. it's NOT.
I like this and I hate it. There are a lot of disconnected elements in it. I don't get he shoes  by the burger, or the gold by the fries? The organization of  the menu food is well done, but not enough, so it's NOT.
This is a really well designed menu, and the burger looks SO GOOD! def HOT.
This is a menu of my favorite restaurant, and the pictures are placed perfectly, and the branding goes through it clearly. It's a sure HOT.
I like the idea of a background that reflects the branding, but this one isn't done professionally. If some elements are changed, it will be great, but it's not there yet, so it's a NOT.

Hot & Not: Craft Fair Posters

Craft Fairs are my new thing! I have been doing it for a almost a year now, and I love it! Each Fair is so different not only in venues, activities and crafters but even with advertisement posters! That's why I thought it's a good aspect to look at. In terms of layout, fonts, images, and creativity because becoming part of a craft fair does require a certain level of creativity.

Below, I am going to analysis each poster, and class it as HOT or NOT.

Note: this is only a class exercise, and I am not judging anyone's work or being negative, so forgive me if your poster is bellow!

I like the initial idea behind this poster, but there is something about it that's stopping me from fully liking it, So it's a NOT (sorry designer!)
I LOVE the colors of this poster and how it's blooming like a flower. The main information is clear. Sweet and simple :) I say HOT (well done designer)
At first glance, I wasn't sure what this was, then I looked at the tables and tea pots. I think it's something to do with a tea fair? There was not a clear communication channel, for that reason I say it's NOT (sorry designer).
I really like this poster. Even though there is nothing extra ordinary about it, but the clarity and the great use of summer colors made it standout. I think it would have been a great fair to attend. It's a HOT design (well done designer) :)
This is another poster I like because I know attending a craft fair require all the tools drawn in it, and that just makes me smile :) Happy reactions is a proof of a successful design :) It's HOT! (well done designer).
This poster got all the required elements with a cuteness to it with that I say it's HOT (well done designer).
ok I know this poster seems like a smart idea, but the colors of the main information are blended with the logo. If only they were a bit bolder then it will standout, but now it's just too crowded for the eye. (sorry designer, but it's NOT)
I had a hard time with this one. I want to say creative, but all I see is STUFF. It's too crowded. The eye doesn't even settle on one focal point. I had to scan the whole thing quick to rest my eyes! So, it's def a NOT (sorry designer)
This poster feels very arty, and it's simple, so yes I'd call it HOT (well done designer).
This poster is SO CUTE! I like the simplicity and the fall colors. It's HOT :) (well done designer).
I know they are trying to make it a nice poster, but to me it feels like it was done on word where they threw the first things that came to their minds. It's just not speaking to me, so sorry, but it's NOT.
I LOVE this poster. It's just SO CUTE! many aspects were considered like colors, font type, font size, and illustrations. It's a little crowded, but in an adorable way, so yes it's HOT! (well done designer).

Hot & Not: Perfume Magazine Advertisements

I can't help but see perfume ads everywhere! on Tv channels, on billboards, on buses, in magazines, and in malls. This time I am looking at these ads with a super magnifying glass on to take a deeper look at them (meteorically of course) not only focusing on the perfumes, but on the layouts, the text and everything in between.

Below are 12 ads I studied and added my thoughts to:
This ad is very charming. The bluish purple of the perfume is present in the necklace, and the actress eyes, and making the add consistent. The placement is great as well. Two strong pictures but one is slightly forward showing the levels of importance. It's  HOT(well done designer).
This perfume screams buy me, and it's actually a page stopping. It's simple a big picture with a smaller one on the side, but both are very strong. The text is subordinate in an effective way. It's an earned  HOT(well done designer).
This ad showing a range of perfumes with the same concept. It's simple, but creative! the placement of the number items is an usual and tells a story. The brand is clear and is placed to be the focal point. Love it! It's VERY HOT(well done designer)
picture is stronger than words, and this is a proof of it. two strong pictures side to side supporting each other with a small, but strong element inserted to one. It's  HOT(well done designer).
The concept and the elements are really great. The reflection of the singer/actor is giving strength to the ad as well. There is a repetition if the red in the main places to grab the reader. It's a complete layout that will stop me while flipping the pages of a magazine. It's really HOT(well done designer).
what I got from this layout is a memory of the royal wedding. I am not sure if that's intended or not. Layout is ok, but the product doesn't seem tempting. It's NOT (SORRY designer!).
This ad is completely off for me. The model doesn't fit with the funky image of the perfume, and the text is white making it hard to read. The placement of the main element (perfume) is unclear and sort of scary. It's NOT (SORRY designer!).
these are two different perfumes. The left side one is mysterious but not in a good way! in fact I can hardly make out the name or the perfume, and the poor model looks suffocated. I am assuming it was to give a sexy natural feeling because it's in the shape of a flower? but it's not really working for me. It's NOT (SORRY designer!). The ad on the right is the opposite. It is cheerful, dreamy, and colorful. Love all the aspects. Paris in the background fits perfectly because it represents romance, dreams and young hopeful people (not sure if that's true, but Paris always sounds like that in my head). The perfume is clear, and the name is visible. It's it's surly HOT(well done designer)
the consistency of this ad is GREAT! all the elements fit like a puzzle. The colors are connected and they share the same elements. It gives a comfortable feeling, and it's VERY tempting! it's surly HOT! (well done designer)
I do not see the concept of the perfume reflected in the ad. The picture is great, but it doesn't look related at all. The text on the side is just normal. I think it's safe to say this layout is NOT (SORRY designer!)
I love the concept of the perfume about the different women faces, but not a fan of the execution of it. The background has four different expressions, and styles, but they are placed in a very ordinary way that is not tempting me enough to go and check the perfume. The font looks like the old Art Word texts from the normal word, and the reflects the limited font resources that the ad designer had. The signature which is an important factor is just faded and is not clearly stated. Then the designer used pink to represent women with all their different faces, the most cliched color to show women power. The message is conflicted, and the design is boring. So, it's safe to say this layout is NOT (SORRY designer!)
