Yumchaa Cafe

When I was younger the only hot drink I liked was hot chocolate and as I grew older, my taste buds enjoyed tea and with being in the UK -Tea Capital of the world- my love for tea has been growing. Now, everyone who tries a new tea place tells me about it and even suggests meeting up in tea shops! win win. Few weeks ago, my classmate tried Yumchaa tea shop in Camden and instead that I go with her. She didn't have to ask twice!
What I found different in Yumchaa is they have all the types they offer laid out in lovely small cups with the names, so you can smell the tea and see it before choosing it. I thought it was cool and it gives each person a more hands on approach to tea. It was a good way to start a conversation as well. My classmates and I, compared the different types, laughed at the names and enjoyed that experience.
The teas were also catgrorized and separated based on their types in a lovely way. Instead of having it written in menu pages.
There was a good selection of deserts as well, which is always needed with a good cuppa!

The interior space was quirky, cozy and casual.
In the center of the cafe, they had an glass ceiling that allowed access to natural light in the cafe, which brightened up the space.
There were different chairs and sofas around. The mix was fun.
Overall, it's a nice place to have tea, read a book or meet friends. Check it out when you are in Camden next. They have other locations as well. Details on their website

ProperTea, Manchester Cathedral

Happy Sunday all! I hope you are all having a great weekend

Last weekend, my friend took me to a very nice tea room in Manchester for Sunday brunch and I LOVED the place!

The location was tucked inside Manchester city right in front of the Manchester cathedral; Manchester Cathedral Visitors Centre, 10 Cateaton Street Manchester, M3 1SQ. It was quiet outside, peaceful and of course rainy! Typical British summer.

The cafe is incorporated into an old building. Their exterior goes well with the architecture. They added a twist with the red chairs and tables outside to stamp the place with a similar branding to their other branch Tea Cup Kitchen

The first thing I saw the second I entered was their delicious homemade cakes counter full of mouth watering goodness and some tea samples showing the loose teas. Behind it stood a shelf of big tea tins.

The design of the place was shabby chic with lovely wooden tables and chairs, white walls and checkered flooring. The wooden counters and the tables are detailed with white and it gave the furniture a nice touch. The lights were a mix of glass covered or exposed that seemed effortless.

The window tables were nice because you get all the light seeping throw the windows, but the problem with them was the booth and the chair were uneven so you don't sit in a similar eye level to the person you are facing plus there isn't any back support which makes it uncomfortable. Maybe if some light coloured cushions are added or a strip of the same material runs to cover the back, the seating will be be better. It looked really pretty nonetheless.
Each table was decorated with little jars of small fresh flowers. That was the simplest touch, but the most beautiful! adding fresh flowers always add to the place ambiance and putting them in small jars gives it a homey feel. Their menu styling was really nice with the clip board idea, but it was just over whelming with information and choices.
Their tea pots were smart. The places I usually go to will give you a normal pot and a mini sieve, but in Proper Tea we got a pot that will keep the loose tea in it and a smaller jug to pour the loose free tea in.
Their afternoon three tray choice was really nice and enough for two people. Their desert choices and teas are wonderful, but their actual food was ok, but since I only eat halal or vegetarian I didn't find anything extra special to eat, but their sweets were so nice!

Overall, I would recommend this place for afternoon, a light meal and chilling and writing!

From Errands To Macaroons

Yesterday, I was running some errands around Kensington and saw the cutest little macaroons place called Anges de Sucre.  I didn't realize it was my beloved macaroons till I got closer. I thought it was a little antique and accessories shop. It was really sweet and the macaroons were even sweeter!
From outside
I entered and was wowed. It turns out it's only been there for three weeks. Lucky me for finding it. They sell handmade macaroons & marshmallows (too bad they were pork gelatine so I didn't get it to try them, but they looked NICE!) They had TEA, too! I haven't tried the teas, but they smelled lovely. The tins added to the decor and completed it. They do sell other drinks cold and hot, but when I saw tea all the other ones just melted into the background.

The decor was simple and on the classy vintage side. I loved the mirror that was framed with flowers and the painted birds. It gave it a quirky feel. The light creamy baby blue paint softened the place.
isn't it so pretty?
The macaroons bar! *DROOL*
The ones I tried were really delicious.
This shop made it into the list of yummy french macaroons in London for sure! Make sure you try it out if you are in the area! :)
